3 BIG QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Must read, for all EE applicants
Performance of famous immigration programs, out of 184,370 Permanent Residents entered Canada in 2020. PNP (Provincial Nominee Program), CEC (Canadian Experience Class), FSW (Federal Skilled Worker), FST (Federal Skilled Trade).
Economic Immigration (PR) Target: 2025
3 BIG Questions:
- An EE profile with 75 points Cut-Off score, how does it look?
- Which Immigration programs should I select, what’s the trend?
- Ghost consultants luring applicants, act of fraud?
Express Entry (EE) Draw # 176 on February 13, 2021 was the biggest surprise in the history of EE system, in terms of Number of invitations issued – 27,332; THE highest till date ! and in terms of CRS Cut-Off Score-75; THE least of all !
I have colleagues in immigration practice who debated key concerns on the outcome. What are they? We figured out few important ones…
2020 saw the lowest number of new Permanent resident since 1998 ie. 184,000 as compared to its goal of 341,000. Fresh targets of welcoming 401,000 new immigrants every year looks even more improbable. Will Canada compromise on the quality?
1. CRS Cut-Off score of 75: Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Candidates with EE profiles selected under CEC program and who created their profile before September 12, 2020 15:31:40 felt magical. Few closest scenarios:
Applicant | Worker | Worker | Student |
CRS Score | 76 | 76 | 219 |
Marital status | Single | Married | Single |
Age | 45+ | 45+ | 20-29 |
Education | NO | NO | High School |
Language ability | CLB 6 | CLB 5 | CLB 5 |
In Canada Education | NO | No | 1 year |
In Canada Work Experience | 1 year NOC B | 2 year NOC B | 1 year NOC B |
Spouse Score | NA | 0 | NA |
All international students in the above table with CLB 5 and 1 year of Canadian NOC B Experience gets a minimum CRS score of 219
2. Changing trends
Canada seems poised to attract the best available skilled immigrant. Famous programs and trends:
- CEC program under EE is constantly nourishing permanent residency since March, 2020: great news for the current and future international students as well as workers;
- PNP programs are making class statement by inviting very specific profiles to their need: applicants need to be extra vigilant in selecting a province and must take expert advise;
- FSW/FST programs under EE are expected to attract some of the most talented candidates: interested candidates should not consider this with LOW CRS Score;
- Pilot programs are micro level arrangements to attract very specific skills for the community with a ready job offer: one may not fit unless shows strong ties.
The learning is clear. Experience Canada at a right time in your career with a right plan. It can provide you an immigration pathway.
3. Beware of Ghost Consultants
It always starts with liberal policies.
What should be my CRS score to have a good chance of selection?
The credibility of EE system is very high. There could be few surprises in the post COVID-19 era, but this is surely an indication to attract more number of profiles or EOIs (Expression of Interest) in the pool. Remember, economic immigration in Canada is driven to benefit young and skilled candidates. Hence, it should not be considered by all. Candidates Outside Canada with CRS scoring between 300 – 400 should NOT get carried away.
Ghost or unlicensed consultants attract candidates with false immigration promises. Don’t let them to fraud you by illustrating liberal EE Draws. Legal Immigration practitioners are always keen to assess your detailed profile and only offer services in case of your good chances of success.
One simple tip to identify Ghost Consultant: the immigration consultant who is NOT a Canadian Permanent Resident (PR) or Canadian Citizen cannot acquire credentials to practice Canadian immigration law. All of them are Ghost Consultants.
